This month's star is Yago de la Pena

Every month we will introduce you to a colleague. This month's star is Yago de la Pena. He joined Icono in January 2025 and is currently working as Operations Manager.

What do you do at Signpost?

At Icono (Academic Hardware), I am responsible for optimizing the efficiency and effectiveness of Icono’s (Balearic) technical team. Icono is a little bit different than, for example, the Belgium Field Service team, because we also have an Maintenance Team, which focuses on the upkeep of equipment and infrastructure in schools. This includes not only laptops but also printers and screen installations. A couple of years ago, we won a tender to replace and install more than 6000 screens in the Balearic islands.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

My day usually starts with a good cup of coffee, followed by an informal daily stand-up meeting with the team around 8 a.m. During this meeting, we outline the main tasks for the day so that everyone knows what they are working on. Then, I check my tasks in Microsoft Planner and set my priorities. A key moment in the day is around 2 p.m., when DHL arrives to pick up repaired laptops. After that, I schedule meetings, work on projects and coordinate with the team to prepare ourself for the upcoming days and weeks.

How did you end up at Signpost?

My journey at Signpost began through LinkedIn, where HR approached me for a strategic role within the company. During several conversations, I discovered the opportunities at Icono and realized that was it what is was looking for. What immediately stood out to me during the hiring process was the personal and accessible culture at Signpost. From the very beginning, I felt a sense of trust and safety—something that has only grown stronger since. The organization truly cares about its people, and I feel completely at home here.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Sports play a major role in my free time, although I am currently dealing with an injury. I love anything that involves a racket, and football is also one of my favorite activities. During the pandemic, I learned to make music, and I enjoy spending time with friends. If the weather is good, I spend a lot of time outdoors—gardening, visiting the beach, or simply enjoying nature are things that make me happy.
