What exactly do you do at Signpost?
During my first month, every day was different. It was mainly about getting to know people, both internal colleagues and external stakeholders. I regularly go to Belgium and find it important to connect with our clients in the Netherlands.
In recent weeks, I have also spent a lot of time with the team. This allowed me to get to know both the organization and the people well. Based on all these meetings, we can start making plans for the future. As I get to know more people, it becomes clearer why certain choices are made and how we set priorities.
What does your day look like?
In the coming period, my schedule will primarily focus on strategically guiding the team so that we can develop new business together and strengthen partnerships with vendors. Additionally, I have started during a period where we are about to begin the budgeting round for the next year.
The past period was mainly about 'getting to know'; the upcoming period will be about determining actions, both in the short and long term.
I also have a lot of contact with Rick regarding setting up marketing activities, with Loek for operational excellence and Martijn for propositions. The goal is to ensure that Signpost gains even more recognition in the Netherlands. I also regularly meet with the team in Belgium to review collaborations and discuss shared goals.
How did you end up working at Signpost?
From my professional past, I know Luuk Slaats (Managing Director of Signpost Netherlands). We started chatting earlier this year. The story of Signpost stuck with me, and I found myself intrigued by the company. When I researched Signpost, I saw messages and articles where Arne Vandendriessche spoke with full drive and ambition about Signpost. I began asking myself "Am I still in the right place?" More and more, I became convinced to take the step, and now, more than ever, I am convinced that this new step in my career is the right one.
What especially appealed to me was the opportunity to further build Signpost in the Netherlands, to take responsibility, and to make an impact. The most remarkable thing is how helpful everyone is. I felt welcome right away. It's clear that you're not just a number at Signpost. You can also see that in the collaboration. Not just internally, but also towards clients. There’s a clear drive to help schools, parents, and students. What also stands out is that people are proud to work for Signpost at every level throughout the organization. That is inspiring and motivating.
What are your interests besides work?
Sports are a big part of my life, especially ice hockey. Additionally, my girlfriend owns her own bar, a beer/wine and cheese bar called Bar Socio in Nijmegen. It’s a super cozy place. It’s probably no surprise that I enjoy spending time there after work. If colleagues are nearby, they are welcome to let me know. Then we can meet at Bar Socio.
Besides that, I like spending time with our friends. Every year we go 2 to 3 times on weekend trips. The next destination is Albania. But I don’t need anything too crazy, I also really enjoy just being at home.
