What do you do at Signpost?
My role is twofold – I work as a Proposition Manager, which means I collaborate closely with marketing and sales to explore potential propositions that could be interesting for Signpost NL. I’m also the Google Lead in the Netherlands, responsible for keeping Google satisfied and bringing as much business our way as possible. I help plan marketing budgets, support events, and because of my IT background, I’m often involved in the pre-sales phase with clients – especially when it comes to deep dives into hardware solutions.
I’m also closely involved in shaping the broader sales narrative for NL. Together with Rick, our Marketing Lead, we’ve worked on the “One Signpost” story. I often introduce Fourcast, Academic Software, and consultancy to potential clients. And I’m going to help in Spain by supporting the team there and co-developing the expansion plan for a Google funding head rol there. Never a dull moment! That’s what I like about Signpost – we’re a group, and I get to work on projects across teams, departments, and even countries.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
Monday starts with a weekly check-in for myself: what’s still pending from last week, what meetings are scheduled, and what preparation is needed – I’m a strong believer in being prepared. For client meetings, for instance, I always review their website to understand who they are.
Each day I block out focused time for quick tasks – things you can do quickly, often in a few minutes, such as emails. That time is automatically scheduled in Teams (you can set this up yourself in Outlook – via Viva Insights).
During the day, I have a lot of contact with colleagues and vendors. For example, I work closely with marketing and sales on execution plans. At the office, we usually take a 20-minute walk during our break – it’s a great way to recharge. On Mondays, we try to all work on-site together. Once a month, we have a Friday afternoon update with the management team, and each quarter we organize a Q-event. No two days are ever the same – it’s a very dynamic role.
How did you end up at Signpost?
I was approached in March last year. After 17 years at my previous employer, it was a tough decision to leave. But I was very curious about Signpost, so I dove into Signpost during the recruitment process. The challenge of helping conquer the Dutch market really appealed to me. I already knew about Signpost, and this felt like the right move.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Together with my wife, our 8-year-old son, and our dog, we spend a lot of time outdoors. Two years ago, I completely changed my lifestyle. I do strength and cardio training four times a week, fast until noon, and stop eating after 8 PM. That shift really transformed my life and still keeps me motivated.
We also love to travel and explore the world – last year we went on a road trip through Mexico, and this year we’re going to Sweden to explore its nature. Music is also a big passion – especially indie artists who release music independently. Think: Mumford & Sons, Of Monsters and Men, Jungle.
