What exactly do you do at Signpost?
Since February 2022, I've been working as a Senior .NET Developer for Lernova. Currently, I lead the back-end team, focusing on developing new features for the Lernova platform, addressing bugs, managing Lernova APIs, and various other development projects. It's exciting work as we're deeply involved in shaping the core of the Lernova Platform.
While I'm based in Portugal, we maintain a close connection with the team in Lokeren. When a feature request comes in, I kick off the analysis and discuss it with Bram Faems, Ben and Timothy. Following that, I estimate the time required for development and coordinate tasks with the development team. Even though Lernova's tool is in Dutch, I manage to grasp some words here and there. Perhaps I should consider taking a Dutch course.
What does your day look like?
I'm an early bird, and my day begins at 5:30 am. In the morning, I dedicate time to my family, making breakfast, walking the dog, and dropping my wife and son off. Returning home, I'm energized to start my workday. We have daily meetings, they are my first and last contact with team every day. Additionally, we hold a weekly architectural meeting to review the previous week and plan for the week ahead. The strong and close bond with the team in Lokeren is the key to making remote work successful. It truly is a fantastic team, and the fact that I'm thousands of kilometers away from them has never been something negative
How did you end up working at Signpost?
I received a message from Sysmatch, Signpost's partner in Portugal, via LinkedIn. Typically, I don't respond to such messages, but that day, I did, and I'm glad I did! The process was remarkably fast – I had a meeting with Signpost in one day, and by the evening, I had received the offer. It was almost unbelievable; everything fell into place within a day. Now, almost two years later, I'm delighted with the switch, the growth opportunities, and increased responsibilities.
What can people contact you for?
Believe it or not, I enjoy all technical things! Feel free to reach out for discussions on architecture, APIs, databases, or any other technical topic. I'm passionate about learning and continually expanding my knowledge. If you have intriguing technical subjects to share, don't hesitate to get in touch.
What are your interests besides work?
In my free time, I'm into gaming, playing video games, and football. In Brazil, I was on the path to making football my profession before ultimately choosing IT. My introduction to IT began at 14 when my father had an old PC, and I found it more convenient to fix it myself when issues arose. That marked my initial steps into IT.
Aside from that, I cherish spending time with family and friends – they were the driving force behind our move from Brazil to Portugal five years ago.
