What exactly do you do at Signpost?
I work in the engineering team as a back-end developer, mainly focusing on our e-commerce application. We make sure that all orders are processed smoothly, both on our platform and through the new procurement platform. I’ve also contributed to the transition from our old system to the new one, ensuring everything runs seamlessly. Now, everything is set up for placing orders. It’s incredibly rewarding to work on something like this. It is a great team effort, especially with our Portuguese team. For procurement, we’re currently making a poc the new Akeneo PIM system, and I’m also involved in integrating it.
What does your day look like?
In the morning, we start with a daily stand-up with the Belgian team, followed by one with the Portuguese team. After that, I get to work on the tickets assigned to me. Working in sprints keeps everything organized and allows us to collaborate transparently toward our goals. The past few months have flown by – time really flies when you’re having fun! I work with amazing colleagues; everyone is flexible and jumps in to help whenever needed, so you’re never on your own.
How did you end up working at Signpost?
I came across the job posting on LinkedIn – nothing too exciting :-) I didn’t know about Signpost at the time, but after graduating during the pandemic, I felt strongly that education could be improved. Books and writing don’t work for everyone. The idea of contributing to that improvement really appealed to me.
What are your interests besides work?
I’m passionate about music and play guitar, piano, and flute. I also enjoy gaming, mostly with my sisters and my partner. Besides that, I love knitting and crocheting, and in the winter, you’ll find me snowboarding. It would be fantastic to make music together someday – who knows, maybe there’ll be a Signpost band or orchestra! Interested colleagues are welcome to join! ;)
